Day 1
Monday Travel South over the Hauraki Plains
via the city of Tauranga to Te Puke for a visit
to kiwi fruit country. In the afternoon we
travel up to the central plateau to the city of
Rotorua.
Day 2
Tuesday Local sights this morning include
Rainbow Trout Springs, with an introduction to
farming in NZ at the farm show. Then we stop by
a thermal area at Whakarewarewa to view mud
pools and geysers. The night is spent in Rotorua
after a meal and a special concert.
Day 3
Wednesday After a visit to Waiotapu Thermal
Area with its colourful hot pools and silica
terraces, we drive past the Wairakei Geothermal
power station and Huka falls. Then it’s off to
Taupo and later, a drive through the Kaingaroa
Pine Forest to the art deco city of
Napier.
Day 4
Thursday Visit to Te Mata peak for a main
view over NZ’s main fruit growing region then
continue south to masterton and over the
Rimutaka range to NZ’s capital city Wellington
with a brief sightseeing tour before arriving at
the hotel.
Day 5
Friday Cruise Cook Strait on the
Interislander to Picton in the South Island.
Reboard your coach to travel around the
Marlborough sounds and then onto Nelson city on
the shores of Tasman bay.
Day 6
Saturday Travel through the Golden Downs
forest and Buller Gorge to the Scenic West Coast
with a stop at Pukaiki Rocks and blow hole. We
then depart for Greymouth and Shantytown before
arriving at Hokitika.
Day 7
Sunday This morning visit a Greenstone
factory then see the mighty glacier at Franz
Joseph. In the afternoon, drive over the Weheka
range to Fox Glacier to the overnight
stay.
Day 8
Monday Travel through the spectacular
Southern Alps and see the many waterfalls,
rivers and lakes. Then arrive in the rustic gold
mining settlement of Arrowtown. From there, it’s
just a stones throw from the beautiful shores of
Queenstown, New Zealand’s adventure capital, on
the shores of lake Wakatipu.
Day 9
Tuesday Today is free to experience the
surrounding area, the resort and the town. You
decide whether it’s adventuring, sightseeing,
relaxing, shopping in Queenstown, enjoying the
scenery, bungee jumping, etc.
Day 10
Wednesday This morning travel to lake Te Anau
and then on to Fiordland National Park through
the Homer tunnel to spectacular Milford Sound
and enjoy a breathtaking cruise on the sound
with lunch provided. Return to Queenstown in the
afternoon to stay a third night.
Day 11
Thursday Travel south via Invercargil to the
bottom of the South Island at Bluff then head
north through Balclutha to the Scottish city of
Dunedin for a 2-night stay.
Day 12
Friday The morning is free or shopping and
seeing the town of Dunedin and then the
afternoon is spent aboard the Taieri Gorge
express train for a journey through New
Zealand’s history.
Day 13
Saturday Heading north past the Moeraki
boulders to Omaru then travel up the Waitaki
valley to Mount Cook. We then travel to Twizel
for an overnight stay.
Day 14
Sunday Travel through the McKenzie basin past
lake Tekapo then down to the Canterbury Plains
past lakes Pukaki and Tekapo. After that, it’s a
smooth cruise to the cathedral city of
Christchurch.
Day 15
Monday You will have a day to explore the
city of Christchurch and shop, sightsee, taste
cuisines and visit the city hot
spots.
Day 16
Tuesday Today we travel back up the Kaikoura
coast to Picton. Then, in the late afternoon we
board the Interislander to cruise back to the
north Island. We then spend the night in
Wellington.
Day 17
Wednesday From Wellington we travel north
along the west coast via the city of Wanganui.
We arrive in New Plymouth later in the day and
stay the night.
Day 18
Thursday Continuing north along the west
coast, we arrive in Mokau and then head inland
to Waitomo caves for a different tour through
the glowworm grotto before traveling on to
Auckland city where the tour finishes at the
hotel after breakfast on the 19th
day.
